About the project
Why this site exists and where its data comes from.
Asturias has 83 officially catalogued greenways, spread over more than 1,300 km and 44 municipalities. Before this site, finding their complete technical data —distance, gradient, difficulty, time— meant digging through a 372-page PDF from 2011 or settling for lists without that information.
Sendas Verdes de Asturias brings those 83 entries together in a single site, with filters by municipality, category and difficulty, and a map with the start point of each one.
The technical data (municipalities, distance, gradient, difficulty, use type, coordinates) come from the Asturias Greenways Catalogue, published by the Regional Ministry for the Environment of the Principality of Asturias in 2011 — you can check the official catalogue PDF (in Spanish). The narrative descriptions in each entry are our own writing, not a copy of the catalogue.
We are progressively adding the official route in GPX format (from the SITPA-IDEAS/IDEE geoportal cartography, under CC-BY 4.0 licence), our own photography of each greenway and more translated content. If something is missing or you spot an error, write to us.
